When an artist I love and respect passes away I’m torn on how publicly I should mourn. Angie Stone is an artist that I wish I could’ve been closer to, but through her album she made me feel as though we’d been family all my life. My mother loves Angie very much and I sometimes think of Angie as a piece of my mother. But Angie Stone was so much more than a memory of my mother or a song she sang. Angie has her own family and people who loved her for her laugh or her spirit or her stories. I only knew a piece of miss Stone and with just that I fell in love with her. I feel the need to publicly thank her for everything she added to our lives and also publicly thank her family for sharing her with us through the years. I pray that God brings you comfort in this tragic time of loss and that all your memories of her bring you peace and joy over time 🕊️
